You also get great control of light and privacy with wooden venetians.  Tape is available to cover the cords and the holes they go through, and this often gives the blind a more “colonial feel”.  Slats are available in 25mm, 35mm and 50mm.  Large windows look better with 50mm in our humble opinion, and let more light in, but 35mm is the best seller and suits most common size windows.
